Richard Vanheuvelen – 1960

Richard Vanheuvelen started working with Bill when he was barely out of high school. Richard was raised on a small farm near Bowmanville Ontario and is one of thirteen siblings. His creativity developed at an early age and he was top in his shop and art classes in high school. Working in the Lishman Studio for a quarter century, Richard’s native talents have evolved and become highly refined as he has mastered a broad spectrum of media. He has worked on and been a creative force in almost all the Lishman projects over the past two decades, and is essentially a part of the family.

Ivy, Aaron (1972), Cadence, and Deagan Lishman

Involved in most of the Lishman projects over the years, Aaron is Bill and Paula’s oldest son. He has studied computer science at McMaster and Simon Frasier Universities and electrical engineering technology at Fleming College. Aaron is currently a Contract professor at Fleming College and an off Road instructor at Trail Tours dirtbike School, www.trailtours.ca . He develops websites (including this one). A musician since a very early age, he currently plays music with a band in Peterborough Ontario and has released a solo record Man Made Machine and currently plays with Boom Bust and Echo. He, along with his wife, Ivy, and two children, Cadence and Deagan, have a small hobby farm in central Ontario. Any comments about this website can be directed to aaronlishman at yahoo.com.

Geordie Lishman – 1975

Geordie Lishman is a talented artist who uses a variety of media (paint, metal sculpture, computer animation, puppetry and wood carving) to create pieces that are inspired by the natural world. He formerly sold hispaintings in Japan and throughout North America. In 1995 Geordie was instrumental in training the famous birds for the film Fly Away Home. He completed a degree in computer animation from Vancouver Film School in 2001 and has helped his father, Bill, bring his ideas to life through his animations. Geordie’s natural talent and creativity shine through all of his creations. His website features many of his pieces, including the figures he created for the Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto as well as those from various art shows. Currently teaching part time at University of Ontario Institute of Technology, he is also preparing to show his pieces in the Robert McLaughlin Art Gallery in November, 2011.

Carmen Lishman – 1983

Carmen, pictured here at the top of the Cosiguina Volcano in northwest Nicaragua, is trained as a biologist. She has a B.Sc. honours degree in Environmental Science and Biology from Dalhousie University in Halifax, and an M.Sc. in Conservation Biology from Trent University. Always having been a strong environmental advocate, her interest in conservation took her to Argentina in 2006 and later to Nicaragua in 2008. She has dedicated a great portion of her time in recent years to improving education, especially environmental education, in rural areas of Nicaragua where she found like-minded people with great ideas, but far lesser economic resources. She works with these Nicaraguans on issues related to education, health care and sustainable development. Paula Lishman – 1949

Paula’s tireless efforts and unconditional support have made most of the unusual projects at Purple Hill possible. An internationally renown fashion designer and head of a highly successful fashion business with close to two hundred employees, Paula still find’s time to do most of the gardening around Purple Hill. Last year Paula won the prestigious Furrier of the Year award, and has just been elected president of the Fur Council of Canada
